Another special event seems to be becoming established in our village by the active Cultural Association. \u201cMazomata\u201d is an outdoor, winter, nomadic festival that combines walking in nature, cooking in old locations, and music with dancing. Thus, this year as well, on Sunday, February 8th, the \"Kotronomazomata\" took place at the \"Kotroni tou Svokou\" location, a place of exceptional natural beauty, with a panoramic view of the village and the iconic Kotroni dominating the bottom of the field.

Kotronomazomata 2026 \u2013 A Celebration in the Spirit of the Old Days<\/strong><\/h3>\n

A new tradition seems to be taking root in our village, thanks to the ever energetic Cultural Association. The \u201cMazomata\u201d is a winter outdoor gathering with a nomadic character \u2014 part hike, part open air cooking, part music and dancing. This year\u2019s edition, the \u201cKotronomazomata,\u201d took place on Sunday, February 8th, at the spot known as \u201cKotroni tou Svokou,\u201d a place of striking natural beauty with sweeping views over the village and the impressive rock formation that gives the area its name.
\nEven though the winter weather in Chomori was unpredictable that morning, 35 hikers met in the village square and set off together. After the previous day\u2019s lively \u201cTsigarithra Feast,\u201d with its endless food, drink, dancing, and singing, the walk was a welcome change of pace. The route took us past the benches, down toward the Mai Rema road with its stunning views of Sesomades and the Kotsalos valley, and finally along the old rural path that passes through \u201cLiostasi\u201d \u2014 a beautiful trail within the village that we encourage everyone to include in their daily walks.
\nWhen we reached Kotroni, the residents of Kato Mahalas were already well underway with preparations. A table of homemade treats had been set up, a large pot of chickpeas simmered gently, and an open fire was ready both to warm the hikers and to grill herrings \u2014 the perfect companion to wine and tsipouro. Two large speakers filled the area with music, and the hiking group was even greeted with colorful smoke flares. People enjoyed food, conversation, stories about the history of the land, good music, and of course, dancing. By midday, just before heading back home, we had already agreed to meet again for Mazomata 2027 \u2014 which, as we were warned, will be \u201ca bit tougher.\u201d
\nIn a world that changes so quickly, it feels important not simply to cling to tradition, but to preserve the elements that give us identity and strength as we face new challenges. The active participation of everyone in the Association\u2019s events is what keeps our village vibrant.<\/p>\n
